Week 3 - England MTC

Getting to know the other sister missionaries. These are English speaking sisters who left this week.

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables

So a big thing to do for our exercise time is playing football (soccer, not the American kind). I hadn't played for most of pur time here because y'know guys and how seriously they take stuff like that. *eyeroll* But I finally got over it and just decided to play, because I haven't played since 9th grade and I sorely missed it. Apparently I'm still halfway-decent, too! Everyone was like, "Woah, Sister Hamilton, where have you been all this time? Defensive player of the year!" And then the next day, I was the second person to be picked (granted, they choose the sisters first, but still - I was second out of the girls). So now I'm famous here. Unfortunately, my fame didn't last long...

The reason why? It has a lot to do with the title: about half of us have moved on. This morning, two busses left with the English-speaking missionaries. Tomorrow, we get about 20-25 new missionaries. It's going to be weird... in just three weeks, our little family here grew so close, and now this place is changing in a big way. So yeah, breakfast this morning was small, and unusually quiet.

Anyway, enough on that, since it's actually a happy thing that they're out in the field now!

Fun fact: Preach My Gospel is new and improved! But only digitally until 2019, I think. The biggest differences are in the vocabulary: we no longer have investigators, we have friends/people we teach. We also don't go proselyting, we go out and teach/do missionary work/whatever it is we're supposed to say now. Stuff like that. But putting a physical copy side-by-side with the digital, it's really cool to see an added sentence to clarify here and there. You should totally check it out.

Otherwise, it's pretty much life as usual. We have good days and bad days - the better days happen when we actually go to bed on time the night before, fancy that. We did sing in Stake Conference this past weekend, so that was kind of fun but also mildly pointless. It was crazy to see that their whole stake could have fit into the first few rows at our church building.

Oh, happy news, our fake-investigator Eron finally prayed! YEE. I can't wait to hear the story behind the real Eron (the teachers that play these investigators taught the people they play), because his story sounds so cool. :)

Also, my German is getting easier. Learning new words and phrases is just as hard, but the stuff I already have in my head comes faster. So yay, blessings!

Funny quote:
"How do you say 'the worst in German? Die wurst?" -E. Ballard
After hiding his amusement behind his scriptures, our teacher responded in a deadpan face with:
"Yes. Exactly that."

Favorite new word:
Entsheidungsfreiheit = agency

Favorite spiritual thought/quote:
"So many good things lie on the other side of fear." -Someone who spoke in Stake Conference

Anyway, love y'all peeps!

Viel Glück,
Sister Hamilton

Rainy days are the best!

Nearly every minute of the week is planned.
